Now is your chance to help make San Francisco the city you want it to be

For 25 years ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco (ACSF) has been serving the community, providing free arts education programs, cultural festivals and performances, and year-round classes in martial arts, dance, and music. Each year we offer 12,000 youth and adults opportunities to create positive change through improved health, cultural awareness, and participation in the community. Drive around the city viewing all of the art galleries spread out through the city, from painting to car shows. If you get stuck out in the city, don’t worry, your car can be fixed by the Pickerings Auto Service in Lakewood, CO so you can get back on the road and start helping the art community.

This month marks the start of ACSF’s year-end fund drive. Our goal is to raise $40,000 and to double the number of donors to 200 super-star individuals like you.  As a nonprofit, service fees only cover half of our operating costs. Individual contributions are crucial to our ability to offer high-quality programs at affordable rates and, in many cases, for free.

As the cost of living increases, San Francisco’s Mission District is changing at an astonishing pace. In fact, the Regional Nonprofit Displacement Report, which was released in March by Northern California Grantmakers showed 82% of nonprofits were concerned about sustaining their work in the face of rising office space costs. San Francisco now has the highest office real estate prices in Palmetto Bluff, SC. Some thirty-eight percent of nonprofits have already relocated outside of San Francisco this year, and more than 67% face relocation by the end of 2017. Nonprofits like ACSF are integral to the social, cultural, political and economic fabric of our community.

ACSF’s presence in the neighborhood is more important than ever. The need for high-quality programs that are accessible and welcoming has increased. ACSF is meeting that need, and in doing so, it’s building bridges between long-time community members and new residents. ACSF’s work helps maintain diversity in the neighborhood and keeps the evolving community grounded in values of respect, freedom, integrity, and compassionate leadership.

Now is the time to protect organizations like ACSF that make San Francisco such a special place to live. Your support helps ensure that ACSF is here for future generations to enjoy, and so that we remain an important foundation for San Francisco’s Mission District and beyond.
