Ponto de Cultura

In January, through a program initiated by the Brazilian government to strengthen and rescue Brazilian culture, ACSF was officially recognized for its work preserving and promoting Brazilian culture and was declared by Brazil’s Minister of Culture, Gilberto Gil, as a “Ponto de Cultura” or “point of culture”. ACSF is one of only three sites to be granted this prestigious title in the US, and one of only five outside of Brazil.

Through the “Ponto de Cultura” project, ACSF has received funding to market its programs to approximately 10,000 additional local Brazilians and Brazilian tourists who visit the area. In an effort to better serve the local Bay Area Brazilian community, ACSF will also make its capoeira and Portuguese language classes FREE to all Brazilian youth aged 12-24.
