ACSF is honored to be the recent recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) – Art Works grant made in support of our school-based arts education programs.
ACSF’s makes an effort to bring its high-quality arts education programs to communities in need, supporting equity in the arts. Grants such as the NEA award make this possible!
Each year, ACSF’s arts education programs connect more than 10,000 youth with master-level artists in an effort to preserve the tradition of capoeira, provide cross-cultural education, and build character. Programs enhance a school’s curriculum and a child’s learning potential. ACSF school-based education includes small-group residency classes led by ACSF teaching artists who provide hands-on skill building experience in the music and movement of capoeira. Residencies provide year-round learning experiences to hundreds of youth throughout the Bay Area. Arts education programs also include assembly performances for which company artists brings awe-inspiring capoeira and maculelê performances to hundreds of youth at a time-exposing youth to culture traditions and skilled artistry and athleticism.
Thank you National Endowment for the Arts for investing in ACSF and in youth participation in the arts!
