In our 32 years as a women-led San Francisco cornerstone for art and culture, we’ve seen people from all walks of life become better versions of themselves.
Our programs teach people to approach challenges as opportunities, break through perceived or imposed limitations, improve their health, value each other, and work together to benefit the whole.
ACSF began as a Capoeira training school, but we’ve evolved into a workforce development track cultivating and supporting artists, and a social justice organization amplifying gender equity in Capoeira, building confident leaders, and creating economic mobility through careers in Capoeira and beyond. Our drive for growth isn’t only because there’s a need and opportunity; it’s because expanding our core services – classes, performances, apprenticeships, artist employment – means we can amplify the voices and agency of people in our programs.
For every individual we impact, we generate a ripple of change that can reach a family, a community, and society.
With your support, we can expand the impact of ACSF and empower more individuals to become the best versions of themselves, creating a place and a community where we see the best of humanity.
Can you help us reach more individuals and initiate even more ripples of change?

Dear Mestra Márcia, thank you for believing in me even more than I believe in myself sometimes. This achievement is as important to me as when I graduated medical school and became a doctor. Obrigada for everything!! – Cascata a.k.a. Monica
Without capoeira I would not be where I am right now. I used to be a very nervous and shy person. Since training capoeira with ACSF my confidence has gone up. Learning capoeira forced me to break out of my nervous barrier, and push myself past self-perceived limits – Jorge Aguirre
