While we don’t get to see her often enough, Professora Sereia is always working behind the scenes as the Executive Director of our school, and a regular instructor of our online classes.
Professora Sereia began training with world-renowned Mestra Márcia “Cigarra” since 1994 and is the founding executive director of ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco. In 2003, she became the first female non-Brazilian practitioner ever to be given the title of “Instrutora.” She made history again in 2007 as the first-ever non-Brazilian female to receive her purple-brown cord at the International ABADÁ-Capoeira Conference in Brazil.
In 2021, she received her brown cord and “Professora” title. She has taught, performed and competed in Capoeira throughout the US, and in Brazil, Canada, and Mexico. Professora Sereia continues her 30+ year commitment to capoeira, Afro-Brazilian arts, the ABADÁ-Capoeira global community, and ABADÁ-SF.
