Mestra Márcia Cigarra Tapped for Prestigious Groundswell Award

Congratulations to Mestra Márcia Cigarra on receiving the 2024 Groundswell Award on November 15th, 2024.

The Groundswell award celebrates an outstanding organization or an organization professional with an operating budget of less than $1,000,000 but which is nonetheless effectively addressing serious community problems. This is a visionary group or individual that, through passionate staff commitment and the innovative use of volunteers and/or community partnerships, is an inspirational model for other nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, and individuals.

National Philanthropy Day celebrates the important contributions that philanthropy – and those individuals and organizations active in the philanthropic community – have made to our lives, our communities, and our world. The Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) celebrated National Philanthropy Day, when individuals and organizations were honored for their work and impact in their local communities and beyond.

Mestra Márcia Cigarra and ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco are honored to have been recognized alongside all of the 2024 honorees: Delle Maxwell & Patrick Hanrahan, Manny Nungaray, Alan Beckstead, Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani, Zayan Kajani, and Geenah-Marie Leslie.
