Mestre Camisa
Mestre Camisa, a 50+ year veteran of Capoeira, is originally from Bahia, Brazil. Following the innovative concepts of his teacher, the great Master of Capoeira Regional, Mestre Bimba, Mestre Camisa founded the ABADÁ-Capoeira Foundation, based in Rio de Janeiro, in 1988. Under his direction, ABADÁ-Capoeira is the world’s largest Capoeira organization, with over 60,000 practitioners across 80 countries. Today, ABADÁ-Capoeira is a leader in the Capoeira field, and is recognized worldwide as its own unique style of Capoeira.
Mestre Camisa is considered to be one the most prominent living figures in the development and preservation of Capoeira. He will be in San Francisco to pass key knowledge critical to the development and integrity of the ABADA-Capoeira school and style.

Join ABADÁ-Capoeira SF founding directors, Mestra Marcia Cigarra and Professora Sereia along with guest master artists and ACSF’s community to celebrate Mestra Marcia’s 40 years in Capoeira, and ACSF’s 30th anniversary. It has been a journey–fortified by dedication, persistence, perseverance, resilience and faith–to reach this milestone and we are excited to celebrate. And we invite you to share thoughts and memories during the open mic portion of this celebration!
