“Professor Jabutí”

Professor Jabuti started learning capoeira in 1996 with students of ABADÁ-Capoeira’s then-Mestrando Cobra. He soon began to train with Mestre Cobra, and in 2000 he received his blue cord. He has since made it his life’s work to teach children, teens, and adults throughout Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

His accomplishments span winning numerous titles in the Jogo Mundiais (World Games) and the Jogos Brasileiros (Brazilian Games), as well as traveling throughout Brazil, as well as to areas in Europe and North America as a guest artist. Because of his stature and accomplishments, ACSF chose him as our first extended-stay Artist-in-Residence, and in 2024, he was awarded a prestigious work visa as an exemplary artist to stay in San Francisco and work with ACSF for 3 years.

Professor Jabuti now teaches youth and adults with the ACSF artist team.
