Instrutora Perla (Perla Corrêa Teperino) has been a member of ABADÁ-Capoeira since 1998. She has a background in swimming and was a fellow at the University of Sporthochschule Köln, in Germany, where she studied physical education. There, she earned a degree in dance and rhythmic gymnastics. She is also a classical pianist and dancer and has been teaching dance for 18 years. Her research focuses on the popular dances of Afro-Brazilian culture such as samba de roda, jongo, côco and dance of the orixás.
In addition to performing in CIGARRA & Guerreiras Nessa Arte, Instrutora Perla will also offer a special jongo dance class on May 8th as part of our larger Musicalidade workshop week, May 8-11. We can’t wait for Instrutora Perla to arrive in San Francisco!
