We’ll be cheering on Mestra Cigarra throughout September as she visits multiple ABADÁ-Capoeira schools abroad to teach and supervise competitions and graduation ceremonies.
As a global leader in ABADÁ, Mestra Cigarra carries the responsibility of mentoring ABADÁ students and instructors across the globe. While we’ll miss her in San Francisco, her presence at these and other international events offers people—especially immigrants, women and girls, and LGBTQIA+ populations—a model for what a capoeira leader can be.
