What have you learned through the ACSF community?
How has the ACSF community challenged your perception of personal limitations and/or world view?
It is no secret that doing business in San Francisco is costly. San Francisco has experienced a dramatic decline in arts and culture organizations due to rising rents, lack of long-term leases, and stagnation in public-sector funding. ACSF serves traditionally underrepresented communities. Each year more than 10,000 children and 6,000 adults take part in ACSF classes, workshops and performance events. Many of those people have been involved with our community for decades. In fact, one of the most meaningful outcomes of being Mission District-based for nearly 30 years is the pleasure of watching our community members grow up. Children become teens, teens become adults, adults start families and bring their children into the community. It’s a beautiful cycle of generations growing and learning together at ACSF.
Despite increasing demands for services and a proven positive impact on the city’s cultural wealth and flourishing economy, we – like many of the city’s small nonprofits – struggle to build sustainability.
So we need your help! We need to raise significant funds to offset our rising rental costs.
