Teen Apprenticing Artists assist at the Kids Summer Camp

IN THE SPOTLIGHT:  ACSF Emerging Artists Program…. Teen Apprenticing Artists assist at the Kids Summer Camp

ACSF is always working to create meaningful leadership opportunities for its participants. Integral to our mission and to the future of the organization, is our efforts to nurture the development of next-generation artists. To do this we provide mentorship and assistant teaching opportunities for interested emerging artists including teenage students. Under the direction of Antonio Conteras (Instrutor Corrente) teen participants are invited to work as assistants at the Kids Summer Camp. In addition to gaining valuable leadership experience, teen apprentices earn “points” for their work at Summer Camp. The ACSF “points system” was created to reward teen participants for engaging with the community through participation in ACSF performances, youth classes, and events. Points are tracked and tallied. Then, with funds generated from the Community Class Teen Fund, ACSF sends up to three teens that have earned the most “points” to Brazil for the ABADÁ
-Capoeira International Capoeira Conference.

This summer’s emerging artists include (from left to right; missing from photo is Alex): Morgan, Giovanne, Zander, Nick, Instrutor Corrente and Malcom.
